Over 250 Friends and Neighbors came in the gates for the July Summer Festival. Faheem the snake man had lines of people eager to hold his pet boa constrictor Lucy. The two little ponies and their gentle handlers helped children saddle up and walk the brick carriage way. Tom Grabe, Alida Velasquez and Jesus Aponte worked Danny Claudio big grill. The IBX Blue Crew served hotdogs, watermelon and ran the big lemon squeezer to keep the whole party in fresh lemonade.
The youth group offered their fresh garden produce at a farm stand and then led the dancing. (nice video) Neighbor Pearl, who won the raffle gift certificate to Tierra Colombiana, said, “ I come every year because I like being around all these happy people.”
Our fine DJ’s were three sons of Pastor Holder whose congregation is renovating the old Fairhill Friends Meeting house opposite the Cambria St. gate.
HFH Reading buddies ran the Free Books table and the plant potting table. Jondhi Harrell led the face painting, Meg Mitchell the arts and crafts.
Police officers from the 25th stopped by to eat a hotdog, chat with the neighbors, play dominoes, make friends.
