Help foster the love of reading and learning in our kids!
We are in need of reading buddies!
Every week, 35 mostly retired volunteers come to Julia deBurgos School in Fairhill to read with children in K-4th.
The volunteers are consistent and encouraging. The children are eager, bright, and friendly but only 25% are reading on grade level. The teachers are hard working and appreciative of the support from volunteers.
Reading Buddies complete an application, get state clearances, visit, interview and are trained and assigned to a classroom. They have monthly meetings for further training and support.
