This year’s Fall Festival centered around the themes of joy and wellness. Our goal was to work together to promote healthy bodies, minds, and spirits in our community. The weather could not have been better and we welcomed over 150 visitors throughout the day!
Community partnerships are essential to the work that we do and we were pleased to have so many impactful organizations with us. Friends from The Food Trust, Eat Right Philly, Urban Creators, and The Village of Arts and Humanities shared with families about their programs and lots of yummy healthy food options. The Phoenix and PRO-ACT provided resources for those in recovery. CADE Kids promoted social-emotional information and the Office of Early Childhood Education was available for pre-k registration.
Some special events throughout the day included: pumpkin painting, horse rides around the carriageway with the Philadelphia Pony Company, book giveaways from the Tree House Bookmobile, Yoga with Alison, Botanography where kids made colorful leaf prints, and of course, face painting with Evita. Our own staff also provided books, vegetables, and movement activities throughout the day. As a special treat, Tito demonstrated how to make ice cream using delicious fresh fruit!
All of these activities highlighted the joy and strength of our community. We were happy to see so many friends and neighbors at the grounds and look forward to sharing future Family Fun Saturdays together.
