UPDATE SATURDAY 12/14 - STAR LIGHTING IS CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN   Join us for this FREE family event!   We'll have a bonfire with marshmallow roast, hot chocolate, carol singing and an arts & crafts table. Dress warmly - see you there!

MLK Day of Service is a way to celebrate the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King. We'll be cleaning up the burial ground, roasting marshmallows, reading Dr. King's sermons & letters, and singing freedom songs.   We hope you'll consider spending this holiday with us.

Black history month tour of Underground Railroad Mural and Female Anti Slavery Mural.  Also visit the graves of great abolitionists Robert and Harriet Purvis,  Lucretia and James Mott.

Women’s History Essay contest event.  Hear wining essays from Fairhill schoolchildren and see performance of new play about Lucretia and James Mott, Frederick Douglas by the Beacon Theater productions. Free and open to the public

From abolition to the women’s rights movement in Philadelphia. Outdoor performance. Rain location St. John Memorial Church   In partnership with Beacon Theatre Productions.

Gardening and Open Zone of Peace - help out in the community garden, take home fresh produce.  Come sit under the trees and enjoy the birds and flowers.  Free children’s books for summer reading available!   Masks and social distancing required.

Every Thursday morning, as Julia deBurgos School distributes hundreds of boxed meals, HFH gardeners give away fresh produce with good conversation and cooking tips in English and Spanish. The four big gardens are producing kale, collards, bok choy, lettuce, scallions, cilantro, mint and flowers. Ms. Guzman, HFH librarian, gives out summer reading books to JDB families. …
