Volunteers who work regularly in District schools must submit the following documentation. Clearances last for 5 years and are good for working with other schools and organizations, as well. All clearances should be submitted to Historic Fair Hill and also saved for personal records.
We are happy to help you complete these, so let us know if you need assistance. Orientation for new Reading Buddies also includes times to complete these together in person.
PA State Criminal Record Check – You’ll need to run a Volunteer Record Check. We can help you do this one.
PA Child Abuse History Clearance
Child Abuse ClearanceGo to https://www.compass.dhs.pa.gov/CWIS/Public/Home

FBI Background Check with Fingerprinting (for paid partner staff) or Request for Waiver of FBI History Check (option for unpaid partner volunteers who have lived in PA for ten years and have no criminal record only)
- Pre-Enroll for your FBI Fingerprint Clearance on the IdentoGo website.
- Click on “Schedule or Manage an Appointment” and enter code 1KG6XN, which indicates that you are being fingerprinted for volunteering in the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
- After pre-enrolling, you must schedule an appointment to be fingerprinted at one of the IdentoGO sites. A list of sites can be found here.
- For your appointment, make sure to bring necessary identification to confirm your identity and a form of payment. IdentoGO locations accept business checks, money orders, or credit cards.
Note: If the unpaid volunteer has lived in the state of Pennsylvania for the past ten years or longer, and has not committed a crime nor has a record of criminal activity, they may provide a signed, and witness signed FBI waiver (link here) instead of the FBI background check.
